Spectrum's professional consulting staff includes individuals with more than 120 years of combined, progressive environmental compliance experience. This experience has included successful, in-depth involvement with various federal and state regulatory bodies. Spectrum's staff includes registered Professional Geologists, Biologists, and Environmental Scientists. Each of the individuals has specific strengths and experiences that are brought together to provide Spectrum's clients sound technical insight and decisions.
Steve founded Spectrum in 1993 and currently serves as the Executive Vice President of the Spectrum Companies and the President of Spectrum Environmental, Inc., one of its primary operating entities. Steve holds a BS degree in Geology from the University of Mississippi and has more than 30 years practical experience in the environmental field.
Over the years, Steve has been involved in many aspects of the environmental consulting and service profession. His experience includes providing strategic planning, permit/compliance and project management for his clients as well as playing key roles serving as a leader for stakeholder groups through the process of review and revision of new and existing regulations and representation before state and federal agencies. Steve serves on several state and local boards supporting the environmental profession and the continued development of those practicing in this field.
Steve and his wife Amy enjoy travelling and have been privileged to visit and actively support mission activities in Burkina Faso and Togo, West Africa as well as Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
Scott joined Spectrum in January 1996 and currently serves as the Vice President of Spectrum Environmental, Inc. Scott graduated from the University of North Carolina with a BS degree in Geology and the University of Alabama with a MS degree in Geology. He is currently is a Registered Professional Geologist in the State of Alabama. With more than 24 years of environmental experience, Scott focuses on company planning, training and development of Spectrum's staff as well as management of national and regional clientele.
Scott enjoys outdoor activities including hiking, fishing, landscaping, and has recently taken up disc golf. He also is a YMCA Board Member (Pelham) and President of the Helena Board of Adjustments.
Gary is a graduate from Auburn University with a BS degree in Biology/ Environmental Studies. Gary joined the Spectrum team as the Environmental Manager in July 2018. He is responsible for the overall management of the Spectrum Natural Resources program with a primary focus on USACE 404 permitting, wetland delineation, stream assessments, T & E species habitat evaluations, invasive species removal and control, coordinating with state and federal agencies as well as State Historic Preservation offices, as well as managing many different natural resource projects. Gary has extensive permitting experience working with several different USACE regions throughout the U.S.
Bob joined the Spectrum team in 2003. He currently serves as the manager of the Assessment Group. Bob holds both BS and MS degrees in Geology from the University of Alabama and has more than 38 years of geological and environmental consulting experience. This experience is focused in areas of UST compliance, environmental contamination assessments, geological evaluations and source water assessments.
Thornton is a graduate of the University of Alabama with a BS degree in Geology. He joined the Spectrum staff in February 2018 as a Staff Geologist. Thornton specializes in environmental site assessments, sampling, geologic evaluations, wetland delineation, stream assessments, as well as managing many different natural resource and environmental projects.
Theresa is a graduate of Millsaps College with a BS degree in Geology. She also holds a Master’s degree in Geology from The University of Southern Mississippi. Theresa joined the Spectrum staff in June 2018 as a Staff Geologist. She specializes in environmental site assessments.
Steven Dudley joined the Spectrum team as a Natural Resource Intern in November, 2015. Steven quickly exhibited the qualities and work ethic Spectrum seeks and joined Spectrum's full time staff as a Stormwater Specialist. Steven continued to expand his knowledge of Spectrum and moved into the growing Natural Resources group in 2016. His knowledge of ecosystems and urban planning provides him with a valuable skillset as he works with Spectrum’s clients in developing project design and permitting strategies related to Section 404 Permitting. Steven has experience in working across a number of Corps districts. He is a graduate from Birmingham-Southern College with a BA degree in Urban Environmental Studies and has worked with various organizations including the Army Corps of Engineers and the Coosa Riverkeepers.
Spectrum welcomed Jennifer joined to its growing staff in July 2017. She received her Qualified Credentialed Inspector (QCI) certification in 2017. She focuses her attention on construction and industrial stormwater permitting, inspections, and reporting in support of Spectrum’s clients. She is also versed in the preparation of best management practices plans for both construction and (BMP, and spill prevention control and countermeasure plans (SPCC).
Jennifer enjoys being outdoors whether it’s going hiking or just a walk around the park. She also enjoys watching sports with her friends.
Daniel Abbott joined the staff of Spectrum in March 2016. He has been a team member on various wetland delineation and mitigation projects, assisted on numerous groundwater sampling and remediation projects, and has taken a major role in numerous industrial/construction stormwater projects. Daniel has received his Qualified Credentialed Inspector (QCI) certification and focuses his efforts on industrial and construction stormwater permitting, inspections, reporting, and best management practices plan preparation.
Daniel enjoys spending time playing golf, hiking, and camping with his wife.
Jamie joined Spectrum in May of 2012 and currently serves as the manager of Spectrum's Southeast Division – Atlanta office. Jamie graduated from the University of Alabama with a BS degree in Geology and has earned licensure as a Professional Geologist. Currently, Jamie's primary job responsibilities include management of regional clients, marketing and business development and project management. In addition, she provides technical oversight of environmental site assessments, contamination assessments, construction and industrial stormwater inspections/plan development, compliance evaluations, and manages Spectrum's underground storage tank cleanup sites under the Alabama Tank Trust Fund (ATTF).
In Jamie’s free time, you can find her out hiking with her dog, paddle boarding or doing yoga.
Jake Epperson joined the Spectrum staff in January 2015 as a Staff Geologist. He serves as the Manager of Spectrum's Coastal Division office in Robertsdale, Alabama. Jake graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Geology. Jake's responsibilities include both technical and managerial duties including Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments, soil and groundwater sampling, geologic evaluations, and management of special projects. He is also responsible for staff coordination and marketing for Spectrum's coastal operations.
Jake has a passion for being outdoors and enjoys hunting, fishing, and supporting the Tide.
Jessica joined the staff of Spectrum in July 2017. She graduated from the University of Alabama with B.S. Degree in Biology and from Samford University with a MS in Environmental Management. Since 2011 Jessica has performed various natural resource duties across Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, Tennessee, Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, and Nevada. Jessica’s responsibilities include wetland/waters of the US delineation, permitting, and mitigation consulting, environmental site assessments, threatened & endangered species surveys, habitat assessments, along with marketing and business development, project management, agency consultation, and technical project oversight.
